With cases of Indigenous suicide increasing at an alarming rate, Australia urgently needs to rethink the services currently being offered and implement strategies to increase Social and Emotional Wellbeing.
Economic instability, disconnection to land, culture and identity, substance abuse and trauma are just some of the impacting factors on an individual's social and emotional wellbeing; some preventative and others unavoidable. However, with the implementation of proactive early intervention and prevention programs, individuals can be provided with the tools they need to overcome adversity.
The 4th National Indigenous Social and Emotional Wellbeing Forum provides delegates with the opportunity to connect and collaborate with likeminded individuals and create systems level change.

“I have left the conference completely inspired by the speakers. Clearly Aboriginal people are able to do their own business and I felt so proud of everyone that spoke about their efforts to do that. I would definitely come again. An amazing effort by all. It gave me a sense of renewed energy for my work back home.”
“I found the forum to be a worthy event which I will attend again. I have walked away having learned more, broadened in perspective and with valuable resources. Thank you.”
“Attending this conference was a wonderful experience for me both professionally and personally. I reconnected with my Aboriginal heritage and was reminded of all the wonderful accomplishments of my Aboriginal brothers and sisters, of whom I am so very proud.”
“I found the forum very interesting; I came away with a better understanding of how wide spread mental health issues affect our people. From all parts of Australia, the young the old and everyone in between.”
“All the presenters were truly invested, amazing creators of change. I came away from the Forum with renewed commitment to be part of that change and the revolution that is happening. Thank you to all the presenters for their hard work and shining the light on the journey forward.”
“This event really opened my eyes. As a non-Aboriginal health professional (mental health nurse) that recently began working at an Aboriginal Health Clinic it gave me a great insight into the issues that affect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders. I feel privileged to have taken part, thank you for offering such a great event.”
“This was one of the most informative conferences I have been to. Excellent MC, presenters and presentations. I have already recommended that my organisation send more practitioners to the next one.”
“It was a privilege to attend the 3rd National Social and Emotional Wellbeing Forum in Cairns. The depth and breadth of experiences and knowledge presented, and the opportunity to share stories and learnings with other passionate people was invaluable.”
